Milestone reached: Engebø officially open for mineral operation

On May 12, Nordic Mining successfully completed its first commercial shipment of garnet from the Engebø project – a key milestone marking the transition to a revenue-generating operation.

Just ten days later, on May 22, we hosted over 100 invited guests at Engebø to officially celebrate the opening of the facility and launch of the mineral production. The event marked the culmination of years of development and the beginning of a new chapter as we deliver critical raw materials to global markets.

A strong start – and a clear vision

The event began with opening remarks from Managing Director Kenneth Nakken Angedal, followed by perspectives from key figures shaping Nordic Mining’s past, present, and future:

• Ivar S. Fossum, former CEO of Nordic Mining
• Kjell Roland, Chair of the Board
• Finn Ivar Marum, newly appointed CEO

Together, they reflected on the project’s development timeline, lessons learned, and the strategic opportunities ahead.

• Member of Parliament Nikolai Astrup spoke about the essential role of Norway’s mineral sector in enabling the green transition.
• Sunnfjord Mayor Jenny Følling highlighted the project’s value to the region.
• County Mayor Jon Askeland and State Secretary Tomas Norvoll concluded the ceremony, just before the official ribbon-cutting, which marked the operational launch of the Engebø facility.

Operational readiness and stakeholder engagement

Guests were invited on guided tours of both the pit at the top of the Engebø mountain and the state-of-the-art processing plant. The event also featured exhibitions on geology and sustainability, underscoring our long-term commitment to responsible resource development. Refreshments was served by members of our multidisciplinary operations team — a symbol of the hands-on culture that defines Nordic Mining.
