Nordic Mining is progressing the Nordic Quartz project in Kvinnherad to its next development phase, following successful pilot results and key project milestones. A dedicated project team has been established to advance the deposit, while preparatory work for regulatory processes is underway.
Recent pilot testing confirms that the Kvinnherad deposit can be processed into high-purity quartz (HPQ) with very low impurity levels. This positions the project among a limited number of quartz resources globally capable of supplying material suitable for high-end industrial applications, including semiconductors, solar energy and advanced technologies.
The Company is currently engaging with potential customers and partners to validate product quality and application suitability.
—Developing a greenfield mineral project is never straightforward. The experience we have gained through bringing Engebø from concept to operation gives us a solid foundation for the next steps at Nordic Quartz. We are applying that hardearned project development expertise as we assemble the team to advance the Kvinnherad deposit further. The pilot results demonstrate that the material can be processed to purity levels achieved only by a very limited number of quartz deposits globally, making it highly attractive for semiconductor manufacturers and other high-value industrial applications, says Finn Ivar Marum, CEO of Nordic Mining.
While the Kvinnherad project represents an attractive long-term opportunity, Nordic Mining’s primary focus remains the continued ramp-up of the Engebø Rutile and Garnet operation towards design capacity by the end of 2026. The Nordic Quartz project will be developed in parallel, without drawing resources from Engebø, and is expected to incur limited costs in 2026.
